This is a reminder to all players, of all grades and of all ages. Your 2012 subscription fee is now due!

Subs can be paid directly to your captain, a member of the executive committee or by direct debit. If you require a direct debit form please ask your skipper about getting one.

The deadline for subs is May 31st. After that date anyone who has not paid their subs will not be eligible for selection. In previous years that policy may have been impossible for the club to enforce. However due to the huge amount of new members joining the club that is no longer the case.

Regardless of what side you play for be it the First XI or the Fifth XI or the under 13 boys team you will not be selected if you have not paid by that date.

Early season is when a lot of the clubs bills come in. New equipment needs to be purchased, LCU fees need to be paid and many things aside so the club needs your subs money to be paid as soon as possible!

Head Coach, Matt Lunson, in a one-on-one coaching session with Andrew Fox

Above is a picture of our new Head Coach, Matt Lunson, in a one-on-one coaching session. Matt is a full time coach and does a great deal of work for the club both on and off the ground every week. I think everyone at the club agrees that training leading up to, and at the start of, this season has been on another level from previous years. Hour long one-to-one coaching sessions are available for only €5. That is a tiny fraction of what that kind of session would usually cost. This is because the club retains the services of a professional full time coach using your subs money.

The coaching sessions take place on the brand new, state of the art practice mats which are contained inside batting cages and covered by new nets. These are the things your subs money are used to pay for.

Jan Steenkamp works with Matt Gregg on his bowling action

The club has also brought over up and coming South African, Jan Hendrik Steenkamp, to be the club professional for the year. Jan is a first class cricketer having made his debut for Griqualand West earlier this year. He has already made an impact on the field and he will be a major factor in our First XI’s attempt to propel themselves back into Division One at the first time of asking.

Jan has also provided excellent support to our Head Coach and is an excellent coach in his own right. He is also available for coaching sessions and can pass on all the knowledge that a current first class player brings to the table.

The clubs new Sight Screen

The club has also installed a brand new sight screen recently and, as you can see, it is a first class piece of equipment. It is easy to take something like this for granted but none of this stuff comes cheap.

Phoenix strive to be the foremost club in Dublin, Leinster and Ireland and we have been making great strides towards this. We have brand new nets facilities, a top class Head Coach, a top class club professional and we are looking to bolster many other areas. All our members get the benefits of this setup and it is with your subs that we fund this constant push forward to bigger and better things.

GET YOUR SUBS IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and help us to keep driving ahead in the 2012 season.

When the stumps are drawn and the end of play….

So when your subs are in and you’ve given your all for Phoenix on the field don’t be afraid to get yourself acquainted with our club bar. There will be many fundraisers throughout the year but we’ll also look to have other less formal social nights. The bar is a good money spinner for the club and having a few pints is hardly the most painful way to help the club coffers.

So get your subs money in now!

We’ll train hard, give it all we’ve got on the field and then share a few war stories in the bar afterwards. If you’re lucky Aaron might even tell you about the fifty he scored!
