2014 is here, the countdown begins. Are you up for the Cup?

The depths of winter have passed and the countdown to the new season begins as 2014 kicks into gear. Some people have kept their skill sets sharp with some indoor cricket. Others have spent the winter on their couches, staying up late and laughing at England.

The indoor nets will be here in no time and we’ll be back in business in no time. Everyone will be hoping to bat like Rogers, bowl like Mitch and not field like Bairstow (buzzers!). So with all these dreams of glory still firmly intact, lets take a look at the cup draws, to date, for 2014.

We'll have plenty of this in 2014

We’ll have plenty of this in 2014….

Well start off with the 1st XI who start off with a trip to Brigade in the 1st Round of the RSA Irish Senior Cup. Things do not get any easier in the Leinster Senior Cup as they will make the journey to Balbriggan in the 1st Round.

The 2nd XI have one of only two home ties for the club. They take on Clontarf at home in the 1st Round of the Senior 2 Cup. In the short format they take a trip to YMCA in the Tillain Cup.

but none of this...

The 3rd XI, under the guidance of new skipper Graham Morris, will hit the road for an away tie against Rush in the Middle Cup 1st Round. They’ll head up to Malahide in the opening round of the YM Salver with an away tie against Castleknock awaiting the winner.

The 4th XI, led by Golden Arm Anders this season, will be looking to defend their Intermediate Cup title. They start off with an away fixture against Railway Union. They will be setting their sites on the final which will be held in Phoenix in August. Their T20 competition has not been drawn as of yet.

and definitely none of this carry on.

and definitely none of this carry on.

The 5th XI have the benefit of a home tie in the Junior Cup but they face a very stiff test against a Castleknock side that had a good finish in the division above the season before. Their T20 competition has also not be drawn yet.

Finally we come to the clubs newest side, the 6th XI, who will be expertly led by skipper Paddy McClean. They will appear in the new Minor 2 Cup competition and face off away to Terenure.

We haven’t been able to lay our hands on any info about the Ladies cup draw. So if any of the Phoenickers can pass us on that info we’ll update this article!

The countdown has begun.
