Round 1 of the Alan Murray Cup saw our 1st XI face both Rush and Balbriggan at the Park.  The first match of the day saw Rush lose out to Balbriggan by just one run.  Match two couldn’t have been closer with Rush scoring 3 runs off the last ball to tie with Phoenix.  In the final match of the day the partnership of Reinhard Strydom and Nic Petorious totalled 139 runs to ensure a win by 10 wickets for Phoenix against Balbriggan.

With the sun shining, the fun on the field was matched off field with the young supporters enjoying a bouncy castle and face painting.  A vintage van was also on hand supplying delicious BBQ fare along with with a selection of salads and desserts (many thanks to Jackie White for organising).

All in all a most enjoyable family fun day – and the weather didn’t disappoint either.

Three points from the day sees us lie in 5th position on the table.  Next week (Sat, 1st July) the action moves to Castle Avenue where we’ll face Clontarf and Railway Union.
