Brilliant season for Phoenix Ladies is about to come to a close

amended version

Our Ladies XI have been one of the standout successes this season at the club. They have been one of, if not the, most dedicated teams at the club in terms of training, effort and commitment. As a result they reaped the rewards of an excellent seasons cricket which saw them a whisker away from a Cup Final appearance. However they have plenty to build on going forward and will be hoping for a positive end to the season against The Hills in the park tonight.

Phoenix can boast four of the best twelve batsmen in their division according to the latest LCU statistics. Lisa Kelly sits proudly atop the ladder with Helen Caird. Karinda Tollard also makes the top ten coming in 8th position while young Orla Martin registers at 12th position in what has been a superb season for her on a personal level as well as with her club side.

Phoenix Ladies 2012

With the ball there has been great success too. Dee Fahy is 2nd in the rankings with consistent bowling and wicket taking just ahead of her young team mate Orla Martin in 3rd. Vanessa Kelada features in 10th position to cap a fine year all round for the Ladies.

Orla in particularly is noteworthy being the youngest member of the squad, making both batting and bowling lists and earning Leinster representative hounours too but it has been a magnificent collective effort from all the girls, and their coaches, that has seen them reap the rewards this year. There is plenty to build on from here and 2013 promises to be an even better season.

From everyone at the club, well done Ladies!
