This coming Saturday, June 13th, is set to be a busy one at the club. The First XI welcome the challenge of Pembroke in the RSA Senior Cup Quarter Final, our Race Night takes place, and, of course, the European Championships will be on the TV in the Bar as well.
The First XI have made a great start to the season so far and sit in second place in Division 2. Despite the many changes from last year, which saw 5 of the regular starting XI depart, the team has gelled well this season and come back strong. They have picked up 4 wins from their first 6 matches (including a very narrow 3 run D/L defeat to Rush) and will be looking to book a place in the semi final.
However Pembroke will provide stiff opposition as they have only lost once this season, in the BKISC, and currently sit above Phoenix atop the Division 2 table. A great day’s cricket looks to be in order!
As ever there will be beer on tap and sports on TV in the bar if you want to wander inside away from the on field action for a while. Group A of the European Championship comes to a climax on Saturday as Greece, Poland, Russia and Czech Republic all have their fate decided. Don’t forget that all the games from Euro 2012 will be shown so feel free to pop along any evening and have a few beers while taking in a game.
And to top it all off we’ll have the Race Night to start our social fundraising events for the season afterwards. David Ford and the fundraising committee have been working hard to ensure that the night is a great event and raises money for the club. We urge all members to come along and offer their support as the funds raised at these events are vital for the club as we strive to provide the best facilities for our members moving forward. You can still sponsor a horse in this event if you like as there is still time just contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to seeing you all there this weekend!
