Coaching Report April/May 2012

Hi all, we’re very excited as we are on the cusp of another season. Our preparation has been excellent and the amount of players training has been outstanding.

Youth registration day was an overwhelming success and although the weather curtailed us last Monday & Tuesday it’s sure to be another bumper year in the Youth Section.
If you can help out this or any other Monday and Tuesday please make yourself known to myself as you arrive on the day. Getting involved can be lots of fun even if it might seem a bit daunting at first.

Note: This equally applies to senior players throughout the season!! Your experience is a valuable asset to the club. We now have 20-30 girls training as a group with Mary Curley on Mondays as well so any help is appreciated!

To assist in this going forward please see below….

Phoenix Pre-Season

Phoenix Parents & Senior Players
“Introduction To Cricket”
Coaching Day
Saturday 28th April 9.15am – 12pm

This is an opportunity to learn some very basic cricket techniques and “how we coach them.” We will demonstrate the different activities, drills and games that will be used through the season with the U9’s & U11’s particularly.

If you want to get involved this year and help out this is an excellent opportunity and should be great fun.
Note: This session is just for parents & adult players, you will be active throughout so comfortable clothing recommended!

Phoenix Pre-Season 1

One-On-One Coaching

I just want to confirm that one-on-one coaching will continue for the entire season. Only the April booking sheet was posted initially because the available times will change slightly with schools finishing etc.

Due to demand it is not possible to book weekly slots. I would say to aim at a session every 3 weeks at this stage. If you have more than one child it’s best to discuss with me directly how best to proceed.

If you have booked a session I would ask that you either confirm the session or cancel if necessary with reasonable notice. If you email with a booking enquiry I will likely text you and request that you call me back as I’m trying to keep 02’s share price from rocketing due to my own phone usage.

Although we’ve had one or two hiccups with the weather and the nets, the 121 sessions so far have been fantastic. There has been some real progress made already and I think the benefits are clear.

Please bear with me as I get to grips with the bookings etc. as it’s quite overwhelming at times. Anyone want to out their hand up and be 121 bookings secretary?!?

Finally I want to wish everyone well for a happy, fun and successful season. Go Phoenix!
