The visitors to the Phoenix Park on a warm Saturday had followed up a league title victory in 2013 with an Irish Senior Cup win in 2014 and were squeezed out of Division 1 on the last day of the 2014 season. Phoenix were still in need of two or three more wins to avoid the ignominy of relegation to Division 3 and so there was something at stake for both sides. Lawrence won the toss and elected to bat. The batting order was Alister Taylor, M D Masud Ahmed, Sam Anderson, Richie Lawrence, Rory Anders, Matt Scott, Thomas Anders, Sayed Shah, Matt Lunson, Ian Anders, Gordon Miller.
Masud got off the mark with a lovely drive between mid off and extra cover but perished to the next delivery from Sorenson. Taylor also was only dealing in boundaries and he got to 16 before falling to Sorenson. Lawrence and Anderson knuckled down with Shoukat only conceding 15 runs in his first spell of 7 overs but Kumar conceded 33 in his first spell of 5 overs. The stand ended at 95 when Lawrence took a few paces forward to see if a quick single was on and The Hills effected a run out. Rory Anders occupied the crease for long enough to see Anderson to his century and the Kiwi added another 29 in a stand of 49 with Scott. The rest of the order were unable to get the balance right between going for quick runs and taking advantage of all the overs available and Phoenix ended on 242 all out with 2.2 overs forfeited.
There was further success for Anderson when he bowled Lonny Donegan for 0 in the 5th over. Former Phoenix star Kumar was a little more successful than his partner reaching 17 although the visitors looked as if they might be in a spot of bother with Baumgart (23) and Kumar both falling with the score on 45 as Scott trapped Baumgart lbw and Rory Anders having Kumar caught by Lawrence. However, The Hills took the opportunity to show the depth of their batting order with Pretorious making 66, Sorenson 30, Murphy 24, Shoukat finishing undefeated on 55 and number 9 McLoughlin also undefeated on 4 as the visitors completed a win by 3 wickets.
Man of the match Sam Anderson 130 runs ; ` 2-41
