Phoenix Cricket Club Life- match days at the club

The season is well underway and a number of members have been keen to point out that they are firmly enjoying the cricket this summer. We mightn’t be on the right side of the results always but the social aspect to match days at Phoenix Cricket Club is just as important!

Last weekend we had a good contest against The Hills who always bring a good following to the Park. Several Hills members wanted me to congratulate and thank all those helping at the club in ensuring that a match against Phoenix is always anticipated eagerly and not just because of the cricket!

A key part of the day is a chance for our former greats, former presidents and fellow illuminaries to meet and remember fondly great days at Phoenix and Saturday was no exception as the picture below shows. There was a lot of fun around the table which as you can see Gower was able to keep under control!

053Finally, a big thank you again to all the Hills team and members who helped create a big buzz around the club last Saturday and a big thank you to Max Sorenson who posed for pictures with lots of Phoenix youngsters too- it’s always a great occasion for our younger members to see an Irish senior international playing at Phoenix! Although Adam Chester got a big surprise when his mother sent the picture below to him while he was on holidays – you can tell Max was smiling at the thoughts of bowling at Adam when Phoenix visit to the Hills on the 6th September!

055So to all members why not pop down to the club for a couple of hours this weekend- there’s always something going on at your club on match days!
