Phoenix have once again run afoul of the cup draw gods in both the Tillain Cup and YM Salver as the competition draws were made this week. After the Fourth and Fifth XI were slated to do all their work away from home in the Junior and Intermediate Cup respectively there is no respite as the Second and Third XI must do the same in the midweek competitions.
In the Tillain Cup the Second XI have been drawn bottom in their side of the draw which means they will start with an away fixture to North Kildare on Monday May 20th and, if they progress, will play all their games in the competition away from home. It seems to be a recurring theme for Phoenix sides in the cup this season!
In the YM Salver the same fate awaits the Third XI. They did manage to avoid being drawn in the Preliminary Round, though. However they face a trip to play the winner of Castleknock v Laois in Round One. They are also the bottom seed in their side of the draw, though, and will have to do all their work on the road to make the final.
Best of luck to both teams from everyone at the club!
