A message from David Ensor ,Chair of Cricket Committee regarding Player Path Provisions 2015.
Dear fellow members,
The introduction of youth players on our teams will ensure that Phoenix continues to grow and compete at the highest levels possible in the years ahead. All clubs throughout Ireland are focusing on the nurturing and coaching of their younger members to ensure that they develop and become better cricket players but to ultimately become the club members of the future. Whether they become 1st XI captain or a 2nd XI or 6th XI player is not the point of this- we need these younger players to develop to the best of their ability but to always see Phoenix as their home club!
To this end the development of younger players on our senior teams will be provided for as follows:
The captains of the 4th, 5th and 6th XI’s are committed to the selection of up to 3 youths in their sides each weekend other than when circumstances may dictate otherwise. The captains will strive to ensure that as many young players as possible are given every opportunity to develop their cricket skills in these games.
The objective of this provision for young players
to find playing Men’s cricket an enjoyable and fulfilling experience
to provide a stepping stone to graduating to as high a cricketing level as possible
Likewise, the captains of the Ladies 1st and 2nd XI are equally committed to integrating the most promising U13’s and U15 young ladies into their senior lineup’s.
For parents of young players at Phoenix, I am delighted to outline the overall aims of our player path provisions and should you have any questions on this do not hesitate to contact me or any member of our cricket team at Phoenix.
