A mixed bag this weekend but a big win for the 1st X1 was a highlight. Dave Langford-Smith was on the honours board again but this time for his bowling, with a 5 wicket haul.

Chris Kavanagh & Asim Nazir both scored their first half centuries for the club in a hard fought game for the twos while in the 4ths game a familiar name to many raised eyebrows when 15 year old Stephen Pigot followed in the very big footsteps of David Snr & Jnr to make his Phoenix debut. One for the future…

A mention must be made of our Under 11c side who debuted 3 players for their first ever game of cricket and managed a great win. To only lose 4 wickets in 20 overs was probably the team performance of the entire weekend!!

Twilight Cricket

The next Twilight Cricket Evening is Wednesday June 2nd.
Come to the ground at 6.30pm to join a team & play starts at 7pm. Entry is €5 per person, there will be a BBQ and the bar will be open. Mums, Dads, kids and players of all abilities welcome!

The emphasis is on fun and participation. We use tennis balls, and the games are quick!

Weekend Report 8-9 May 2010

In a weekend that we had five senior & junior sides out and didn’t manage to get a win, a couple of fantastic individual performances stood out. Up top was Dave Langford-Smith’s first century on home soil in what was a devastating display of controlled hitting against Glendermott in the Irish Senior Cup. A great captain’s effort.

Our policy of bringing youths through into the senior sides is already bearing fruit and many watching were amazed with the way Adam Chester went about compiling 44 runs for the 4th X1 against a good Leinster bowling outfit. The maturity that some of the younger players have already displayed has been really impressive.

Thomas Anders made his 1st X1 debut on Saturday, aquitting himself well with the bat and in the field in a very tough game and then followed up on Sunday by grabbing a couple of wickets for the 2nds.

As well as these individual highlights there were lots of positives to be taken from the weekend and it’s a long season ahead, so chins up!

Bag Packing in Roselawn SC

The youth section parents and kids will be packing bags in Tesco, Roselawn Shopping Centre today and tomorrow.

Please drop down and show them your support as they kick off their fund raising activity for the year.

Ireland Underage Selections

Hot on the heels of our LCU Squad selections comes news that Thomas and Rory Anders have been called up to the Ireland U15 and Ireland U13 winter squads respectively. This is all the more pleasing as both are in the first year of their qualification periods at those age groups.
