Third XI Match Report (a) -v- Castleknock – Division 6

On a very mixed weather day we agreed a 35over match lost the toss and ended up fielding.

Sim Singh took the first over and was very accurate and tidy bowling 5 overs for 11 runs 6 of those off one shot. Graham Morris took the ball from the other end always looking threatening and could have had more than the two wickets he finished with. Aaron Joseph came on with little luck with Ben White on at the other end picked up wickets with a really wet ball and finished with 3 for 36.

Marc Wells came on for his first competitive bowl in Ireland bowling very well his 7 overs going for 23 runs and a warning. Into the last few overs Bard (Shakespeare)Ovenden entered the fray taking a really impressive 5 for 8(as he is an Aussie 8 for 5) a decent performance skittling Castleknock for 162 a decent score.

After a questionable tea we Matt Gregg and Sayed (Asian night) Shah opened the batting running the opposition ragged before Matt got a questionable LBW Michael Godwin came and went quite quickly.

Sajjad Zaidi joined Sayed at the crease and not for the first time put on a big partnership before Sajjad got a nick behind departing for a very good 43. During this time Sayed passed his first Phoenix 50 with a combination of big shots and well placed singles and doubles.

Marc Wells joined Sayed struggled a bit with his timing but still had plenty of time. Sayed eventually departed for a brilliant 81, a real game changing innings. Ben White joined Marc in the middle and smacked a 4 leaving 6 left to win with 3 overs. Marc found his timing and despatched the first ball for 6 over square leg Overall a good team performance and a much needed win nice one lads
